Second wine

Second wine is a wine made from the same vineyards as the winery's main label, but with different grape selection and vinification techniques. These wines are often more affordable but still reflect the quality and style of the main wine.

The selection of grapes is very strict for first wines, and therefore, châteaux, depending on the vintage, do not hesitate to exclude 50% or more of their production.

Second wine thus has characteristics very close to the grand wine from the château but with slightly lower complexity, strength, persistence, finesse, and aging potential. However, it is more affordable. Buying second wine allows you to taste the magic of grand cru without paying a high price.

"The first second wines" originated at the end of the 19th and early 20th centuries, and often the second wine does not bear the "Château" designation.

The most famous second wines are those from Premiers Crus Classés from Bordeaux. We offer, for example:

- Les Forts de Latour - 2nd wine from Château Latour
- Les Carruades de Lafite - 2nd wine from Château Lafite Rothschild
- Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux - 2nd wine from Château Margaux
