Roku 1993 pak chateau přešlo do vlastnictví průmyslového gigantu Alcatel -Alsthom a roku 1997 ho zakoupila rodina obchodníka s vínem Bernarda Taillana Vinse.
Château Gruaud Larose is located in the Saint-Julien appellation and is classified as 2nd Cru in the Bordeaux classification of 1855. The wine from this château is known for its reasonable price.
The winery was founded by a certain Gruaud, but its good reputation was only achieved by his nephew Larose. In the 19th century, the estate was divided into two halves, and in 1935 it was reunited. In 1993, the château was acquired by the industrial giant Alcatel-Alsthom, and in 1997 it was purchased by the family of wine merchant Bernard Taillan.
The estate itself covers more than 120 hectares, of which almost 100 hectares are planted with vines. An interesting fact about this winery is that it owns equipment to protect against hail—a sonic cannon that occasionally fires over the vineyards.
