Critic's review: 'The fragrance is fruity and offers a fine concentration as well as a very subtle richness and elegance. It reveals notes of blackberry and wild raspberry combined with subtle touches of licorice, spice, as well as very discreet hints of Sichuan pepper and bourbon vanilla. The palate is fruity, well balanced and offers good definition, a fine juicy structure, smoothness, fullness, fine tension, beautiful substance as well as dynamism. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of fleshy/juicy blackberry, fleshy/juicy blackcurrant, and small hints of fleshy raspberry combined with light touches of strawberry, licorice, as well as discreet hints of bourbon vanilla. The tannins are soft and structured. Good length. A very lovely delicious, precise and very velvety wine." 92 - 93/100, VertdeVin
Château Clos Manou
Françoise and Stéphane Dief produced their first vintage of Clos Manou in Médoc in 1998. They sought suitable soil with a high vine density of around 10,000 vines per hectare. After purchasing 4 hectares of cru artisan classified land and 7 hectares of cru bourgeois, their vineyard area gradually expanded from 0.12 hectares to 18 hectares. The entire harvest is handpicked.
The wine matures for 17 months, 70% in new French oak barrels and 30% in 700-liter concrete eggs for 12 months.
