Malbec

Malbec is a red wine variety originating from southwestern France, specifically from the Cahors region. Today, this variety is much less widespread in France than it used to be. However, it is widely cultivated in Argentina, as well as in Italy, Chile, Peru, California, Australia, and New Zealand.

This variety is very sensitive to frost, mildew, and powdery mildew.

The wine is dark red, rustic, and tannic. It can be consumed young. Malbec is one of the selected varieties in the Bordeaux blend composition, along with varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot.
