Château Pape Clément
Château Pape Clément is a Grand Cru wine estate located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation in Graves. It is one of the oldest estates in Bordeaux, with a history dating back to the 13th century. Today, it is only 15 minutes from the center of Bordeaux and is surrounded by urban development.
The Pape Clément vineyard is spread over a mix of gravelly sand and clay-limestone soils with a chalk base rich in iron. This terroir is ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. In addition to these varieties, there is also a small amount of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.
There are 2.5 hectares planted with white grapes, of which approximately 45% is Sémillon, 45% Sauvignon Blanc, and the remainder Muscadelle.
Château Pape Clément produces three pairs of red and white wines. The Grand Vin is named after the winery itself, while the second wine is called Le Clémentin du Pape Clément.
