Château Marjosse
Château Marjosse, a significant winery located in the Entre-Deux-Mers area of Bordeaux, one of France's most prestigious wine regions. The winery's history dates back to the 18th century when the foundations of its current success were laid. Although the winery went through a period when production was not as intense, it gained new momentum in 1997 when Pierre Lurton, a renowned winemaker and director of the famous wineries Château Cheval Blanc and Château d'Yquem, became the owner. Lurton revitalized the vineyards and modernized the production processes, bringing Château Marjosse back onto the map of significant wine producers in Bordeaux.
The winery focuses on producing both red and white wines, reflecting the specific terroir of the Entre-Deux-Mers region. This area is characterized by clay-limestone soils and a unique microclimate that influences the character of the grapes. The red wines, primarily based on Merlot and Cabernet Franc varieties, acquire a subtle minerality and full structure from the limestone subsoils, while the clay layers contribute to balanced tannins and rich fruity notes. The white wines, made from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon varieties, stand out for their freshness, aromatic intensity, and purity of flavor, which is highlighted by vibrant acidity and a mineral character.
Château Marjosse is an example of the successful combination of tradition and innovation, which has secured the winery a firm place on the world wine scene. The wines from this winery not only represent the high standards of the Bordeaux region but also authentically reflect the unique terroir, making them popular among connoisseurs and collectors worldwide.
