Chateau La Mauriane
Château La Mauriane is a winery with four blocks of old vines on a beautiful chalk and clay terroir. Pierre Taix, the owner and winemaker of La Mauriane, aims to produce wine that aligns with the terroir: organic wine cultivation with minimal mechanical intervention in the vineyard. The goal is to respect the structure and life in the soil.
The wine production is very classic for Bordeaux from the early 20th century: it uses native yeasts, small vats, no added SO2, and only small containers. La Mauriane ages in oak barrels of various sizes, with oak sourced from different forests in Europe. The wine is bottled without filtration and fining.
