Medium dark ruby-red colour. The aroma of red fruits has a scent of violet with a hint of roasted oak. On the palate the crunchy red currant and blackcurrant fruit notes are juicy and very well integrated with the cedary new oak, there are also nuances of leaves. Lovely acidity adds plenty of freshness and the alcohol is balanced. Firm and fine tannins that are supple on the long finish.

Château Giscours

Château Giscours is a highly regarded estate in the Margaux appellation of Haut-Médoc, north of Bordeaux city. In the 1855 Bordeaux classification, it was rated as a Third Growth (3ème Cru), and since the 1990s, it has moved from being a Merlot-dominated wine to a more long-term blend, typically 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot.

The estate has been owned and gradually rebuilt by several owners. The first records of vineyards here date back to the mid-16th century. In 1654, Louis XIV passed through here, and when he tasted the excellent wine from Giscours, he spoke highly of it. The estate was later managed by the Saint-Simon family, who had been going through turbulent times for some time. It only received new and ambitious projects in the second half of the 20th century. Dutch wine merchant and enthusiast Eric Albada Jelgersma took over the estate, restored the vineyards, and dedicated considerable effort and money to the winery. Within ten years, the winery managed to get back on its feet.
