A powerful, vigorous, distinctly masculine wine with enormous energy and a long horizon for further maturation. A typical Gazin - but despite this characteristic, it is a purely ''terroir'' wine, which emphasises the expression of local microclimatic and soil specificities. Composition of the cuvée: 92% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc.

Château Gazin

Château Gazin is located in the Pomerol region and is among the oldest wineries in Bordeaux. Written records confirm the existence of the winery as early as the 12th century. Until the French Revolution, the estate was owned by the Knights Hospitaller of Saint John. The winery itself is housed in a historic building, formerly a hospital built by the Knights Hospitaller as a refuge for pilgrims and the needy.

Gazin is owned by the Baillencourt family (known as Courcol), a high nobility from Lalande, one of the oldest families from Artois. The nickname Courcol (court col) was given to them by Philip Augustus, the King of France, in 1214 as an honor. At the beginning of the 20th century, Louis Soualle, the great-grandfather of the current owners, took over Gazin.

Today, the estate manages about 24 hectares of vineyards with an average age of 35 years, producing around 100,000 bottles of Château Gazin. The harvest is vinified in cement vats, undergoes malolactic fermentation in barrels, and is then transferred to oak barrels. The wines are fined with egg whites. If necessary, the wines are gently filtered before bottling. Production is 80% exported. Château Gazin is a member of the Bordeaux Wine Academy and the French Wine Academy.
