Château Duhart Milon Rothschild
Château Duhart-Milon, formerly known as Duhart-Milon-Rothschild, is a wine estate located in the Pauillac appellation of Médoc, north of Bordeaux. The estate was classified as a Fourth Growth (4ème Cru) in the 1855 Bordeaux classification and has been owned by its famous neighbor, Lafite Rothschild, since 1962, sharing vineyard and winery management teams.
The property was owned by the Castéja family for over a hundred years, but they sold it 25 years earlier, and since then, it has changed owners five more times. None of the previous owners paid as much attention and care to the land as the Rothschilds. They initiated an extensive renovation program, replanted the vineyards with new vines, and decided to plant new varieties. The vineyard covers 50 hectares and is planted with 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 21% Merlot, and a small amount of Petit Verdot.
The grand vin (the estate's flagship wine) ages for up to 18 months in oak barrels (about half of which are new barrels) and is known for its elegance combined with the typical strength of Pauillac. The wine has a full taste, with firm tannins.
