The colour of this wine is a dark ruby with garnet highlights and subtle lightening at the edges. The aroma will enchant you with its ripe notes of heart cherries complemented by undertones of plum, hints of noble wood and orange peel. On the palate, a juicy, fresh red fruit flavour develops with a subtle sweetness and fine tannins that leave a pleasant impression. The aftertaste brings hints of figs, making this wine a great companion to a variety of dishes.
Expert Jeff Leve rated it 89/100 and describes it as 'charming, open, ready to show its sweet, ripe red fruit with ease. The wine is medium-bodied, refined, fresh and already an easy favourite.
Château du Glana
Château du Glana is located in the Saint-Julien appellation. On 60 hectares of vineyards, mainly Cabernet Sauvignon is grown, with a small amount of Merlot.
The château itself was built in 1870 and is a typical representative of one of the local architectural styles, combining white stone and red brick. The Château du Glana winery was actually created thanks to the division of the vineyards of Château Saint-Pierre, 4ème Grand Cru Classé. In 1961, the winery was purchased by Gabriel Meffre, a prominent breeder from Vaucluse. In the following years, he expanded the vineyards from the original 5 to 43 hectares, primarily through gradual small purchases from Château Lagrange, 3ème Grand Cru Classé in Saint-Julien.
Today, the winery is managed by his son Jean-Paul and grandsons Ludovic and Julien, who year after year demonstrate their high ambitions, especially in maximizing its untapped potential. It has a great location in the middle of grand cru classé vineyards, and since 1999, the quality of wines has been progressively increasing.
