Croix Mouton 2014 - the Merlot harvest took place from 1 to 12 October, almost two weeks later than usual. The Cabernet Franc harvest ended three days later. This extended harvest resulted in perfectly ripe grapes of both varieties. Owner Jean-Philippe Janoueix and his consultant Jean-Philippe Fort from Michel Roland's laboratory have produced a great wine, certainly one of the best of the Bordeaux Supérieur classification.
The palate does not lack good fruitiness, with flavours of currant, cherry and plum on the palate, all with a hint of liquorice. Although the tannins seem very fine, their strength is pleasantly sufficient. A year or two in the cellar and the taste will be great as usual.
This wine comes in a 6 litre bottle called Imperial. This is the equivalent of 8 standard bottles. The Imperial size is ideal for medium or larger parties.
This wine is packaged in the original wooden box with the winery logo.

Château Croix Mouton
Château Croix Mouton is part of the portfolio of the renowned winemaker Jean-Philippe Janoueix, who also owns other wineries in the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, Pomerol, Saint-Georges, and Saint-Émilion areas. The vineyard covers 70 hectares and is planted with Merlot (97%), Cabernet Franc (2.5%), and Petit Verdot (2.5%). The average age of the vines is forty years. The vineyard promotes biodiversity by allowing grass to grow between the rows of vines, which supports insect life and improves water absorption into the soil. Harvesting is done by hand, with a strong emphasis on quality.
Experts consider Château Croix Mouton wine to be one of the best buys in Bordeaux, given its price.
