Stéphane Dief is a passionate winemaker whose wine is so predatory and yet so brilliantly balanced. The tannin structure is fascinating. Clos Manou 2014 smells of leather and blackberries and offers excellent fruitiness, which is the result of a combination of aging not only in old oak barrels and small, medium-sized oak barrels, but the wine is also aged twelve percent in egg-shaped concrete amphorae. Clos Manou 2014 is a meticulously crafted wine whose palate fits perfectly into the mosaic of the Médoc's finest wines.
Château Clos Manou
Françoise and Stéphane Dief produced their first vintage of Clos Manou in Médoc in 1998. They sought suitable soil with a high vine density of around 10,000 vines per hectare. After purchasing 4 hectares of cru artisan classified land and 7 hectares of cru bourgeois, their vineyard area gradually expanded from 0.12 hectares to 18 hectares. The entire harvest is handpicked.
The wine matures for 17 months, 70% in new French oak barrels and 30% in 700-liter concrete eggs for 12 months.
