Chateau Charmail
The winery was founded in the 17th century. It is located in the northernmost part of the Haut-Médoc area on the border of Saint-Estèphe, near Château Sociando Mallet. Château Charmail has a significant topographical advantage. The undulation and south-facing orientation contribute to the ripening of the grapes. The vine also benefits from a gentle breeze, which allows for regular aeration of the leaves and berries. Great care is taken with the harvest, which is done by hand. In the 16th century, the château was purchased by the Treveys de Charmail family.
Wine production began here in the 17th century. A specialty of this winery is an unusually long, cold maceration, resulting in intense aromatic and flavor maturity.
Wines from Château Charmail have a Cru Bourgeois Supérieur classification. The vineyard cultivates Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc.
