Château Bernadotte 2006 presents classic Bordeaux with a more refined and elegant style. The wine has a deep garnet colour and offers aromas of black fruit, leather, cedar wood and subtle spice. On the palate the wine is well balanced, with soft tannins, delicate acidity and earthy notes on the finish. The 2006 vintage was more challenging, but the wine remains a great partner to roasted meats, game or aged cheeses.

Chateau Bernadotte
Château Bernadotte is located in the commune of Saint-Sauveur, bordering the Pauillac appellation. The winery was founded in 1973 by Curt Eklund, a Swedish industrialist who named it in honor of Marshal Bernadotte, who became King of Sweden in 1818 under the name Charles XIV John. In 1997, the winery was acquired by Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, whose owner, Madame de Lencquesaing, wanted to expand her range of wines to include cru bourgeois located near Pichon. Since 1998, significant changes have been made to the winery, involving substantial investments in the fermentation room, cellars, and vineyards, and new storage facilities were constructed. In 2007, both wineries became part of Maison de Champagne Louis Roederer.
The vineyard covers an area of 35 hectares. The wines mature in oak barrels for 12 to 16 months, with 30% being new barrels. Château Bernadotte wine has a classification of Cru Bourgeois Supérieur. These wines are balanced, well-structured, sometimes with sharper tannins from the Cabernet Sauvignon, which promise longevity and need time to soften. As they mature, the wine mellows, revealing fruitiness with spicy notes for which these wines are sought after.
