Canon-Fronsac
The vineyards of Canon-Fronsac form the 'front' section of the Fronsac appellation, facing the Dordogne River. While they are often seen as a natural extension of Fronsac, historically, they hold a distinct status. Around fifty wineries operate in this area. It is generally believed that the average quality of wines from Canon-Fronsac is higher than those from the broader Fronsac appellation, largely due to the more uniform terroir.
