Clos des Lunes
Clos des Lunes is a story of an ambitious adventure that began in 2011 with a challenge: to create legendary dry white wine on the exceptional soils of Sauternes. This is a successful bet by the iconic Olivier Bernard and his family, owners of Domaine de Chevalier in Léognan, who passionately and energetically strive to make Clos des Lunes one of the greatest references for dry white Bordeaux wines on these soils of sweet white wines.
The vineyard of Clos des Lunes covers 65 hectares in the rolling landscape of Sauternes. The vines, averaging 35 years old, are planted on a mosaic of soils, each contributing to the character of the estate's wines. While the deep gravel of Sauternes adds strength, the freshness characteristic of the gravel soils on a clay-limestone subsoil in Bommes combines with the finesse and elegance of the red soils of Barsac.
