2015
Vintage Quality: Excellent
Current Status: Ready to drink, suitable for further aging
The 2015 vintage in Bordeaux is considered exceptionally good. Spring was warmer with successful flowering, but summer brought extreme heat and rain, which affected vine growth. The harvest began in late August for white grapes and continued into September and October for reds. Despite the variable weather, yields were of high quality.
Wines from the Right Bank appellations Pomerol and Saint-Émilion received considerable praise for their rich, intense, fruit-focused wines. Left Bank appellations Margaux and Graves produced classic reds and whites. One of the biggest criticisms of the vintage was the tendency of some wines to be overly ripe and alcoholic, undoubtedly due to the intense summer. However, the best examples were rich, exotic, sophisticated reds and elegant yet characterful whites.
The 2015 vintage offers a wide range of quality reds and whites, suitable for immediate drinking and investment purposes.
