The estate was purchased in 1827 by Jean-Baptise, a distant ancestor of the author of The Little Prince , Anthony de Saint-Exupéry.In the 1960s, the winery experienced a significant decline, with the proceeds from wine sales only enough to buy a modest television set. For the last half-century, the third member of the dynasty , Jean-Luke Zuger, has ruled over Malescot. He and his team have followed ancient principles and methods combined with new ideas. Fermentation is slow and long, the must is fermented in vats with the matolina and pumped over the the mash hat. The metallic flavour that the Malescot Saint-Exupéry wine acquires only after long ageing is almost unique.
A silky, spicy wine. Blackberry, liquorice and chocolate on the palate. Currently (2015) the wine is starting to show its other flavours such as notes of tobacco and earth.
