In 1962, the Rothschilds purchased the Duhart-Milon estate adjacent to the grounds of their Chateau Lafite.The property had been owned by the Castéj family for more than a century, but they had sold it 25 years earlier and it had changed hands five more times since then.None of the previous owners had given the land as much time and attention as the Rothschilds.They embarked on an extensive renovation programme, planted new vines and decided to plant new varieties.The new wines from the Duhart-Milon estate soon reached the pinnacle of excellence and were hailed by wine lovers everywhere as an outstanding example of the best wines from Pauillac. The wines are fresh and balanced. 'Still closed, young, lively and restrained. With time you discover elegant, medium-bodied, bright, rich red currant and currant notes, veiled by tobacco, typical of Pauillac.
