Château du Glana can be found on the Route des Grands Vins, which runs along the Gironde between Beychevelle and Saint-Julien, directly opposite Château Ducru-Beaucaillou. The chateau itself was built in 1870 and is typical of one of the local architectural movements, which combines white stone and red brick. The Château du Glana winery was actually created by the division of the vineyards of Château Saint-Pierre, 4ème Grand Cru Classé. In 1961, the winery was bought by Gabriel Meffre, a prominent breeder from Vaucluse. Over the next few years he expanded the vineyards from the original 5 to 43 hectares, mainly thanks to successive small purchases from Château Lagrange, 3ème Grand Cru Classé in Saint Julien. Today, the winery is managed by his son Jean-Paul and grandsons Ludovic and Julien, and year after year they have demonstrated their high ambitions, especially in capitalising on its untapped potential. It enjoys a superb location in the midst of grand cru classé vineyards, and since 1999 the progressive improvement in the quality of the wines has been evident.
The flavours are colourful, juicy, with delicious, fine tannins. One of the wines that clearly benefited from this vintage. Perhaps thanks to a higher proportion of Cabernet than was usual before.
This wine comes in a 1.5 litre bottle called Magnum. The Magnum size is perfect for a gentleman for an evening out, for example.

Château du Glana
Château du Glana is located in the Saint-Julien appellation. On 60 hectares of vineyards, mainly Cabernet Sauvignon is grown, with a small amount of Merlot.
The château itself was built in 1870 and is a typical representative of one of the local architectural styles, combining white stone and red brick. The Château du Glana winery was actually created thanks to the division of the vineyards of Château Saint-Pierre, 4ème Grand Cru Classé. In 1961, the winery was purchased by Gabriel Meffre, a prominent breeder from Vaucluse. In the following years, he expanded the vineyards from the original 5 to 43 hectares, primarily through gradual small purchases from Château Lagrange, 3ème Grand Cru Classé in Saint-Julien.
