Vintage
Vintage refers to the year in which the grapes were grown and harvested for wine production.
The term vintage is often associated with the designation "good" or "bad," depending on the weather that influenced the growth and ripening of the grapes during that year. If the weather was favorable and balanced, we talk about a good vintage, where wine production is less demanding for the winemaker. Conversely, unfavorable and unbalanced weather leads to a worse vintage, where the winemaker has to make more effort to balance the wine's taste.
Because the weather is highly variable, the taste of wine can differ between vintages, even if the same procedures were used as in previous years.
Fortunately, it is easy to find out how a specific vintage fared today, avoiding potential unpleasant surprises when choosing wine.
You can choose bottles of wine by individual vintages with us, and for each of them, you will find information on how that year turned out. Check it out here.
